Planning a Packaging Project: Questions to Ask Early

A packaging project moves more efficiently when the initial brief answers the practical questions that affect material, format and production planning.

What will the packaging hold?

Describe the product, serving temperature, portion size and handling conditions. For beverages, include information about ice, toppings and compatible lids where relevant.

How will it be used?

  • In-store service, takeaway or delivery.
  • Single location or a multi-location program.
  • Plain packaging or custom printed artwork.
  • Required accessories and packing preferences.

What information is ready?

Share available artwork, target quantities, delivery destination and desired timing. If a specification is still being developed, identify the decisions that remain open.

Keep approvals organized

Record the agreed product details and use clear version names for artwork. A simple approval trail helps everyone refer to the same information.
